According to the statistics of Hong Kong Cancer Registry in 2017, colorectal cancer accounted for 17.0% of all new cancer cases and there were 5635 new cases of colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer symptoms may be minor or non-existent during the early stages of the disease. The symptoms of colorectal cancer may not develop until the disease has progressed into stage III or beyond. Chinese University of Hong Kong has substantial proof that colorectal cancer screening can lower the incidence rate of the disease. Early detection and removal of polyps could lower the chance of having colorectal cancer by 3-8 times.
